Ah, yes, the “understanding.” I learned 30 years ago this summer that among fratbros, “we have an understanding” about payment almost always involved dodgy to blatantly illegal shuffling of funds, almost always connected to impressive expenditures on cocaine and/or underage strippers that needed to be hidden from the authorities. To this day, if I hear any iteration of “understanding” among the MBA set, I secure my wallet with both hands, a nail gun, and at least two kilos of Bondo.

Just one more thing I get to worry about! How many tentacles does this thing have and of course I had to see that last picture with the Substack

thing. I wonder if we’re all gonna get sold out because of that.

Nothing and no one is safe in this country anymore. Thank you for that truly investigative piece of journalism.

The signs of Bukele’s corruption has always been there; since 2015.

“As mayor of San Salvador, Bukele carried out an Israeli-sponsored visit to Jerusalem in which he was photographed praying at the Western Wall and was declared “a friend of Israel” by his Israeli counterpart. Since taking office as president, he has struck medical and military deals with Israel(Opens in new window) and has remained silent in the face of Israel’s bombardments of Gaza.”

i don't know how much justin sun is involved. what i've seen going through the Salvadoran congress's minutes is more of the standard "Belt & Road Strategy" stuff (borrow money from china to build infrastructure).

a lot of corruption usually rides in on the coattails of those deals.

I guess this is one way they’re releaving us of worry of criminal gangs. They’re the ones running the country. I meant the US not El Salvador.

You mean that some people - like people in charge people - think that bitcoin "mining" is like mining ore? Like bauxite or iron ore? With like heavy equipment? Holy shit are we screwed.

i'm not sure what they think but most of them definitely don't understand that bitcoin mining is just transaction processing like a bank or paypal. that's why i make a point to avoid the word "mining" and always use "transaction processing (some call it 'mining')" or some such.
