From my time at both the police and the UK FCA I know that the SEC are...well where (come back to that) incredibly frustrated with what they felt was their inability to go after House members for insider trading, but they did feel they would need a law change to do so which obviously the house would be unlikely to pass. I may have hallucinationated it but I think AOC and of all people Gates tried to get one passes at some point.

This was all prior to Trump 2 where financial crime is now legal. Hooray!

yes, AOC and Gaetz co-sponsored legislation to ban congressmembers from trading stocks, which seems like an incredibly good idea that also happens to be popular with most americans who aren't members of congress.

Pleased I did not totally make that up...it's a unlikely pairing!

american congressmembers like to do “odd couple” bill co-spornsorships as a publicity stunt. happens more than you might guess.

too bad they couldn’t get it passed into law.

All societies need "Nightwatchmen" who selectively assassinate the corrupt, and then leave justification for why, for the remnant. In reality, it would take 12 men with a general reasoning range of 130 to 160, or slightly less at the top end, who hadn't been compromised. And one more, of the same capacity, as a leader/veto-er.

Here's the kicker. Imagine you're in government as a politician or senior public servant and each year the Nightwatchmen remove the 12 most shitty operatives in public office. There is no recourse. But every year, the worst one's are assassinated on principle.

Damn, mofo, that's a motivational thing for sure, right?

“It all makes it abundantly clear how untouched by humanity you are. It also reminds me of the greatest blessing narcissists give us. So possessed by your own hubris, you don’t know it, you can’t see it, it never occurs to you when you are showing us your ass.”

Fantastic write-up with the only exception on your JAN 6 take, a wonderful piece of LARPing that has kept binary minds quite busy for too long. Otherwise, nice piece!

All about the capital* assault.

Transcend that.

Look, from this point on the earth, having Russia Nuke the major organisational centres of the USA would be a good outcome.

as i mentioned in the piece I am pretty vague on what constitutes "material non-public information" when it comes to the government. the STOCK Act is the law that governs this kind of thing: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/STOCK_Act

but the devil is always in the details with these kinds of things and i definitely don't know the details.
